Production Idea & Process

In 2020, I began my four-year undergraduate journey in London, my first time living away from home. The city's mix of history and modernity fascinated me, leading me to explore every corner of it.

Driven by my passion for observation and film, I planned a documentary video to showcase London. Using time-lapse photography, I captured the city's rapid pace across 50+ locations, shooting from dawn to night.

The Challenging Part

The hyperlapse clips deliver a strong visual impact, requiring steady shots along a track. Using a tripod, I spent over 8 hours capturing 10+ hyperlapse shots across various locations.

The University College London shots involved multiple days of shooting from the same spot and the same angle. I captured this scene over 100 days. These shots vividly illustrate the passage of time, with the campus constantly changing as people and objects move through the frame. Beyond this video, the UCL campus shots are also being used for Generative AI-related projects.

Outcome

This video was more than a project; it was a journey through London's layers. As a foreigner and photographer, I captured the city's pulse, meeting people, witnessing events, and exploring both bustling landmarks and quiet corners. Each shot deepened my connection to London's vibrant energy and diverse character.
