Inspiration

This 24-page manga is an experimental cutscene from a story I created. It follows the journey of a girl who lost a leg and her determination to become a performer on stage.

At first, she hid her disability by covering her leg, joining a performance group under the guise of being "normal." However, her physical limitations made her performances awkward, earning criticism from others in the group. Despite this, she devoted herself tirelessly to practice, pushing her limits to improve. During a grand performance, her prosthetic leg broke, causing her to fall off the stage. While recovering in the hospital, her peers realized the extent of her dedication despite her disability, which deeply moved them.

In a heartfelt gesture, they decided to organize a special performance to honor her resilience and perseverance. This manga depicts the final scene, where the girl, touched by their efforts, rises from her seat in the audience and returns to the stage to perform alongside them, completing the masterpiece. The show ends triumphantly, earning praise from the audience.

I created this story and illustrated this pivotal scene to test my storyboarding skills and ability to craft a compelling, emotionally resonant narrative. The girl is an original character of mine, and this story is one of many featuring her journey.

Drawing Process

I began by storyboarding and sketching the character scenes, focusing on their appearance, outfits, and other key details. To capture the desired lighting and atmosphere, I gathered reference images from famous shows, films, and promotional videos.

To ensure scene accuracy, I created a 3D model of the theater where the story unfolds and used it to generate cutscenes that guided my final illustrations.
